Select Comfort Elite Mattress

Executive summary about mattress prices by Angelwings724

I had seen the TV ads. Since we had a waterbed frame already and didn't want to part with it, we chose the mattress that fit into our waterbed.

The mattress we chose was a Queen size, Elite Mattress. There was a mattress frame, 2 air mattresses, a large foam pad, the pillow top cover, air pump and hoses, wireless remote control. We set up the frame inside our waterbed frame, placed the 2 air mattresses inside and connected the air hoses up to the air pump, placed the foam pad on top, then placed the pillow top cover onto that. The pillow top cover attaches to the mattress frame with a zipper that goes all the way around the bed. Once we had it all put together, it was time to air up the mattresses. They system comes with a remote control with push buttons that allows you to adjust the comfort level from 0-100, the higher the number, the firmer the mattress. We no longer woke up with sore muscles and aching backs. Two years later both air mattresses have begun leaking air, the pump quit working, the mattresses sink in the middle like an old, cheap mattress would.

I have been to the website and have emailed customer service repeatedly. Mattress prices are $1200 for our Select Comfort sleep system, because it was a custom fitted, elite mattress with a wireless remote control.

We are now in the process of buying a new mattress from a local, reputable mattress store. We still have the Select Comfort mattress, but it is rarely used anymore. Our Select comfort mattress is in the floor of a spare bedroom used only for the kids' sleepovers. This system isn't worth buying.

Bunk Bed Shopping

Executive summary about bunk bed by S.A. Smith

If you follow our 6 point safety checklist, bunk beds can still be a great bedding solution for your children:

1. ASTM and CPSC guidelines

Ask the retailer if it meets the voluntary safety guidelines of the American Standards of Testing and Materials and the minimum safety standards of the Consumer Product Safety Commission. If it does, you'll know that the bed meets all current and reasonable safety standards.

2. Strong frame construction

Examine and test the durability and strength of the bunk bed frame. A good bunk bed with remain firmly grounded without movement.

3. Only rounded edges

Check the entire bed construction for smoothness of materials and fasteners.

4. Measure the safety rails

Make sure the top rail is at least 5 inches above the mattress top to prevent your child from rolling over the safety rails.

5. Ensure proper mattress fit

Make sure the mattress opening snugly fits the elite mattress without a lot adjustment room.

6. Sturdy mattress support

A lot of injuries are caused by children in the lower bunks pushing up on the underside of the top bunk and dislodging the mattress or support frame. Ensure the top bunk has sturdy mattress supports that are secured to the bed frame with bolts.

Mattress Buying Checklist For First Time Buyers

Executive summary about elite mattress by John Warraich

Mattresses are designed for different needs. Every best mattress is made to suit different people. Following are some of the checks that Mattress Queen team has come up with after some primary research and collecting reviews from purchasers, sleep experts and mattress salesmen.

1. It might be your first time buying a mattress. Try lying down with different positions on the mattress before you buy it. Repeat the same with different mattresses till you find your "best" queen sized mattress.

2. Firmer is better. Not always. Firmer mattresses are usually the most popular mattresses, but that doesn't mean they're better at preventing back pain. A mattress that's too soft can also cause back problems.

3. Higher coil counts are better. Are they? When you talk to a mattress salesperson, they'll probably tell you that a higher coil count will result in better sleep and a more durable mattress. But keep in mind that some mattresses offer more coils but use thinner wire, and others with thicker wire and fewer coils. That doesn't mean you should just throw your hands up and sleep on the floor. Just don't spend more than you intended to if you can't physically feel a difference.

How to Build a Waterbed Frame

Things you'll need:

1. Hammer

2. Nails

3. Paper

4. Wood

5. Table saw

6. Wood stain

7. Wood glue

Instructions:

1. Get the proper measurements so you are sure to purchase the right type of wood at the right thickness and length. Get the wood cut at your local hardware shop. Single size waterbed dimensions are 48 inches wide by 84 inches long. Queen size water dimensions are 60 inches wide by 84 inches long. King size waterbed dimensions are 72 inches wide by 84 inches long.

2. Begin to build a waterbed frame. Connect all the frame pieces using wood glue, nails and, if you want it more secure, screws as well.

3. Create your frame first and connect together.

6. Place the frame on top of the deck. Create the supporting legs of the headboard and attach to the frame. Attach the headboard to the frame and supporting legs.

A Memory Foam Mattress is The Best Mattress For Back Pain

Executive summary about best mattresses by Robin OBrien

Best memory foam mattresses are made from a visco-elastic material that was originally developed by NASA. Tempur-Pedic carried out various clinical trials and soon found that memory foam mattresses - as they were soon called - offered support that was vastly superior to conventional mattresses.

Basically, a memory foam mattress is totally different from conventional mattresses, responds to heat and body pressure to mould itself to the exact shape of the sleeper's body, delivers orthopedically correct alignment of your neck and spine.

Other mattress manufacturers soon woke up - pardon the pun - to the amazing benefits of memory foam mattresses. The International Touch is the memory foam mattress made by Serta. To answer; what is the best mattress for back pain is easy: a memory foam mattress. However, memory foam isn't to everyone's liking, lacks the 'springiness' of traditional mattresses. Sleeping on a memory foam mattress can take a couple of weeks to get use to.

Visco-elastic memory foam mattresses haven't been on the market all that long, but many consumers are giving memory foam mattresses excellent reviews. Serta, Sealy and Jamison make fine mattresses; both conventional and memory foam, but to my mind, the original memory foam mattress is still the best; the Tempur-Pedic.

6 Tips for Better Sleep During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is hard work, and you'll need your sleep. One of the cruel realities is that a good night's sleep during pregnancy remains elusive, if not impossible for most pregnant women, at some point during their pregnancy.

1. Sleep-Friendly Diet. Anything spicy, fatty are not foods that promote sleep during pregnancy. If you find that you experience nausea at night, keep some crackers next to your bed. Some women find that their prenatal vitamins make them feel nauseous — if this is the case, decide if you'd rather have your sleep and take them during the day or if you can sleep through the nausea.

2. Routine. By going to bed the same time every night, your body will become accustomed to a regular bedtime.

3. Comfortable Bed. A good mattress can make all the difference in getting quality sleep during pregnancy, so if you can, don't skimp on the mattress. Choose comfy bed linens that will breathe well, and layer blankets for those hot flashes pregnant women tend to get.

4. Pajamas. If you sleep in pajamas, you may need to get some maternity pjs for added comfort. Sleep shirts, elasticized pajama bottoms shorts all work well.

5. Support Pillows. Women no longer have to resort to creative pillow arrangements to comfortably sleep during pregnancy. While the old pillow-between-the-knees-pillow-under-the-belly-pillow-behind-the-back trick may work in a pinch, there are many maternity pillows on the market that do the job of two to three separate pillows. The body pillow is long enough to hug and support your belly, and maybe your knee.

6. Sleep Positions. By your second trimester, you'll find that sleeping on your belly is no longer an option, and sleeping on your back is no longer safe for your baby. Get used to sleeping on your left side, which is the safest position for sleeping during pregnancy.

Separate Mattress and Beds for Sound Sleep

There is still very much a social stigma for young couples to seek out separate mattresses.

1. Extra beds for happy couples

Snoring, hogging the duvet, fighting for space, being unable to stretch or move freely, fidgeting...even the breathing of a partner can drive you potty. There are endless ways couples try and combat their mattress wars – ear plugs to block out snoring, sleeping pills, hypnotism – but the easiest way to ensure a good night's sleep is to sleep alone. Buying extra beds and an additional mattress could save your marriage.

2. Selfish sleeper? Invest in an extra mattress

Women seem to struggle to sleep more than men when it comes to cohabiting a mattress. Simply investing in separate beds will ensure couples are looking after their sleeping habits. According to the National Sleep Foundation, separate beds is a growing trend, with just 12% of married Americans sleeping alone in 2001, rising to 23% sleeping alone in 2005.

3. Looking for a new beds? Speak to Snug

Snug memory foam mattresses are carefully crafted and manufactured with your best night's sleep the main objective.

Simmons Beautyrest Royalty Mattress

Executive summary about Simmons Beautyrest mattress by Mark Dakhlian

My daughter really wanted a queen-sized bed for some time. We have owned this Simmons Beautyrest Mattress for nearly three years now.

I must say I was perfectly happy with this mattress but my wife is a bit more selective in her choice of mattresses. Each Simmons mattress is built with an independent spring construction which reduces motion transfer across the mattress. When shopping the Simmons line, each mattress is now rated with a MSI to help determine motion transfer in each particular mattress. Each Simmons mattress has a single-sided design to eliminate the need for flipping and rotating the mattress.

Simmons offers Seating Edge Support which offers more support along the outer edges of the mattress. Our current Sealy mattress has a similar feature which is a noticeable improvement over older mattresses without added edge support.

The Simmons Beautyrest Mattress come in plush and firm models, I would believe the reviewed mattress falls on the low end of the firm mattress line which is a 825 coil design.

Simmons Beautyrest World Class Mattresses With Memory Foam Firm

Executive summary about Simmons Beautyrest mattresses by Nelson6084

I weigh about 100 lbs and barely reach 5 feet tall. There is a 12 in long permanent indenture, where I sleep on the mattress, that is anywhere from 1/2" deep to 3" deep. The guy only measured one spot and said the indenture must be bigger. Well I will buy another mattress but I will never buy a Simmons. We spent a considerable amount of money for a top of the line mattress and have been sorely disappointed. We purchased the mattress from Bishop Parker in Montgomery, Alabama who is supposed to have a wonderful reputation for providing top quality products.

2 Easy Steps to Choosing Your Mattress

Executive summary about mattress by John Lewis

1. Try before you buy

It is important to test the mattress on your chosen bedstead in order to ensure they achieve your desired comfort level.

2. Match mattress to base

If you already have a bedstead in good condition you may only need a mattress. However, if you have a divan, a new mattress alone won’t give you the full benefit. Divans act as bases for mattresses and either have springs which allow the mattress to adapt to the body's contours, or a solid top which provides firmer support.

4 mattress mysteries

1. Why do mattresses cost so much?

In a furniture store, for example, the margins are usually higher for mattresses than any other product. Mainstream innerspring mattress sets from major brands carry gross profit margins of 30 to 40 percent each for wholesalers and retailers.

2. Are those really cheap mattresses advertised in store ads worth considering?

Stores use promotional mattresses to draw customers in and upsell them to a fancier model.

3. How can someone return a defective mattress?

Call the retailer where you bought it. An estimated 5 percent to 8 percent of new big-brand mattresses are returned either because the mattress was defective, damaged in delivery, or just plain uncomfortable.

4. What's the difference between the warranty and comfort guarantee?

A warranty covers manufacturing defects, while a comfort guarantee allows dissatisfied consumers the opportunity to exchange a mattress if it doesn't live up to expectations, typically within 21 to 100 days. The Select Comfort warranty was prorated after a few years, and the Tempur-Pedic was prorated after 10. Prorating refers to a warranty that covers less and less of the original purchase price the longer you've owned the mattress. If your mattress is stained, that could also void the warranty.

Facts About The Colgate 2-in-1 Crib Mattress

Executive summary about Crib Mattresses by Robin OBrien

As the name implies, a Colgate 2-in-1 crib mattress gives you two mattresses in one, with a firm side designed especially for small infants, and a softer side for toddlers who still need a small bed, but no longer require the firm surface that an infant needs. The Colgate convertible mattress is a tremendous savings for families, as the mattress can stay with your child until he is ready to graduate to a regular single bed. Many parents have reported using the same Colgate 2-in-1 mattress for 2 consecutive children.

There are cheaper infant and crib mattresses available, but not with the distinctive features of a Colgate 2-in-1 mattress.

Beds

Executive summary about chosen bedstead by Laura Ashley

Consider the size of your bedroom when deciding on a bed size. Please ensure that the mattress you intend using is compatible with the dimensions of your chosen bed before purchase.

To prevent movement check all fixings are tight and secure before use. From time to time all fixings and joints will require tightening to prevent loosening which can create squeaks and movement.

We recommend turning mattresses every month to ensure even wear and prolong the life of your mattress.

Here's seven point guide on what to look for in the best memory foam mattress.

1. Is It The Correct Depth?

The optimal depth for a memory foam mattress is eight inches. Some mattresses are only six inches deep, which means less memory foam and thinner load-bearing layers. If your mattress is deeper than eight inches, it may not bend properly.

2. Does It Have a Substantial Amount of Memory Foam?

We've seen mattresses being sold with only one inch of memory foam. The depth of memory foam on standard mattress is three inches. However best memory foam mattress has 4 inches.

3. Is It The Correct Density?

4. Will It Be Customised to Your Height and Weight?

The very best memory foam mattress is one that's been custom made for your specific height and weight.

5. Is It Open-Celled?

The foam in your mattress should be open-celled. Close-celled foam mattresses trap heat, which is why foam mattresses have the undeserved reputation of being too warm.

6. Will It Be Laminated?

A lot of companies laminate their mattresses because they think the foam layers may separate. Laminating mattresses has the following negative effects:

a. Why ruin a goo it counteracts the open-celled nature of the foam, which causes heat retention;

b. if you have massage pads fitted within your mattress, you wouldn't be able to replace them;

c. if your weight changes significantly or you become bed-bound, you would need to replace the whole mattress instead of just one or two layers.

7. What Kind Of Cover Does It Have?

Why ruin a good quality mattress with a cheap cover? The best memory foam mattress will have a cover that's non-allergenic and breathable.

5 ways to Select the right Cheap Mattress

It is possible to buy a cheap mattress from the internet and still get a mattress which is great to sleep on and does all the things which you need it to do, but it is actually harder to buy a good cheap mattress than it is to buy a good expensive one.

1. Buy a branded mattress

Just because you want a cheap mattress does not mean that you can’t have a branded mattress. It is quite possible to buy a Silentnight double mattress for £150 and a Sealy double mattress for £195.

2. Choose a mattress with a damask cover

Historically a cheap mattress would come with what is known as a stitch bond cover. While stitch bond is adequate you can now buy a cheap mattress with a damask fabric. An individual will actually sweat approximately one third of a pint of moisture into their mattress every night – that’s 15 gallons per year, so the air which circulates around a damask covered mattress will help to keep the mattress fresher for longer.

3. There is no need to accept entry level

When springs in a mattress are individually pocketed they will work independently to allow the mattress to adapt to the shape of your body giving maximum head to toe support. Be careful not to buy your cheap mattress from a website which is connected to a traditional retail business or else you could pay too much.

4. Take good advice

For a mattress this would involve finding out your firmness preference, your size requirement, how quickly you need the mattress and who would be using the mattress.
